SQL Server Database Services

Current Services: VCUCC provides SQL Server DBA support to Technology Services and other Administrative units with SQL Server database servers.  We currently maintain six SQL Servers for shared use, three sets of Test/Production pairs. One pair of SQL Server 2000 and one pair of SQL Server 2005 on the VCU Network, and one pair of SQL Server 2000 on the MCV Network.  Services offered include backup and recovery, performance tuning and monitoring, data transformation service (DTS), and Integration Services (SSIS) creation and maintenance.  We currently backup all SQL Server databases using TSM's Total Data Protection (TDP) utility and backup tapes are taken off site nightly.   Transaction log backups are arranged on a case by case basis, depending on the needs of the customer and the application.  We also have experience setting up and maintaining replication between multiple SQL Servers, should that level of redundancy be required.
